I've been on this forum for a month today, and I guess I'll introduce myself.

I turned 17 on June 21.

I'm 5'4" and stocky (I can't encircle either of my calves with both hands, and it's all muscle baby! laugh.gif ), and in the recent year my acne has become pretty severe. cool.gif I am mostly of German descent and I have lighter colored, sensitive skin (I sunburn very easily). I have blue eyes and "dirty" blonde (not quite brown, not quite blonde) hair that sometimes gets a moderate amount of red tint.

My results from the similar minds MBTI + Enneagram test:

Introverted (I) 81.25% Extroverted (E) 18.75%
Intuitive (N) 90% Sensing (S) 10%
Thinking (T) 87.1% Feeling (F) 12.9%
Perceiving (P) 81.25% Judging (J) 18.75%

My biggest interests are Mathematics (not applied!), Philosophy, and Music. I like classic literature as well as classic and modern science fiction/fantasy. For some reason my reading speed died and I don't like to read much anymore because it takes too long. I also like video games, but I don't play them much anymore and spend more of that time on Dungeons and Dragons (pen and paper, of course!). I also like visual art, but I haven't developed my ability in any forms of visual art. Computer art is cool too.

Mother is an ESFJ, father is an INTJ, brother is an ENFP. Most of the family beyond that is SJ.

My father and I are pretty much Buddhist (I'm spiritual while my father isn't), and the rest of my family is Christian (father's side is Catholic and mother's side is fundamentalist- some are born-again Christians).

The universe/multiverse/cosmos/whatever exist primarily to be understood.

That's all I can think of off the top of my head.

Before I forget, I play piano, drums, marimba, and I'm thinking about picking up the fiddle and possibly the pennywhistle sometime.

I also should mention that I love word games, chess (although my interest in chess has dwindled), Set, Othello, and I'm interested in learning Go.

I don't currently do anything athletic, but I played baseball in a local league for 6 years.

Right on. I've got a banjo, downstairs, that I'm storing for a friend right now. I figure I've got to learn one song before he takes it back...

Ha, I know what you mean. It's abstractness is what appeals to me, what makes it unique from the sciences. Applying is fine, but not as an approach to the subject. I'm not sure where you draw the line in applications that are mundane. I would, say, find it amusing physicists used the properties of logs to find a more convinient way to measure sound intensity, because seeing how they used it doesn't really advance your knowledge in mathematics itself. It's like pursuing convinience for other subjects versus pursuing knowledge in your interest. The latter is obviously preferable.
