Hi there.

Adam Jaskiewicz of Ann Arbor, Michigan here. I have taken a number of these personality tests, online, and a written test given by my philosophy teacher at Pioneer High School, and every single one of them put me down as INTP. Looking at descriptions of different types afterwords, I would have to say it seems pretty accurate, so I guess I must be.

Anyway, I just finished my first year at Michigan Technological University in Houghton, Michigan studying Computer Science. I am staying at home for the summer in Ann Arbor, not doing much of anything. I have a part time job, but it is only 30 hours per week, doing boring stuff like scanning sheet music covers and entering keywords for items in a database for http://www.sharmusic.com/. Meh, it's a job, I guess. But anyway, it means I have lots of free time, and typically when I have free time I sit in front of my computer.

My major intrest is computers, but I also am quite interested in cars, especially older cars. I also listen to a lot of music, mostly Classical and Baroque, with a bit of classic rock and older country music (Johnny Cash, especially) thrown in, and even a bit of Romantic and Post-romantic music thrown in now and then. Pretty much the only music I don't listen to is rap, modern country, pop and punk. I also do a bit of photography now and then, and I have been thinking of pulling out my telescope, but I never get around to it.

what do you plan on doing with a CS degree? what would you like to do after college?

To tell you the truth, I am not really sure yet. I know it will involve computers, and definately more software than hardware, but I am not sure if I want to go into applications, operating systems, design, implimentation, research, or what.

I definately would rather be in a position where I would actually be doing programming, rather than a manegerial position where I would be telling people what to do but not ever really touching a computer myself. I also am certain I do not want to become a professor.

Me too, I told everyone that I just had to have a 4k telescope. Then I used it twice. Now it sits...

Yeah, mine was a birthday gift from my late grandfather. I used to pull it out all the time, but even living out in the country where we live, the viewing isn't great. The light pollution from Ann Arbor blots out the north-east quarter of the sky, and depending on which side of the house I set up on, I can either see most of the northern sky and some of the southern sky, or most of the southern sky and a little of the northern sky. And random trees get in the way of individual things I want to look at.

What kinda scope do you have? I have a Meade ETX.

I'll give you $100 for it.

You're missing out.

I picked up some Johnny Cash on 1/4" tape a few months ago and, sadly, it's wearing down quite quickly.

I'm a web developer. I have to tell you one thing: I LOVE IT.
All I want to do is eat, sleep and shit code.
I do PHP/MySQL but PHP feels like such a remedial language that I can't wait to try other languages.

I spent a couple years debating CS and Info Systems...settled on economics. I spent a lot of time C and C++ coding, as well as Java (and javascript), VB, and Perl (at my last job).

Pathetically, I'm just learning PHP and mySQL and I find it quite refreshing. I'm of the attitude that it's not so bad...but I'm open to change, of course.

I'm in the same position

I'm second year degree of info tech, major in software engineering... and I don't know exactly where I'll go when I finish.

I'm starting to lean towards 3D & Applications but I can slot into anything from web development to games programming

Yeah, i've done some web stuff on the side, too, so that's always an option. HTML, CSS, a bit of PHP. I know Perl, too. Once you learn one language, the others come really fast. I started with C++, but my classes in college are all in Java so far. Java came really fast, though, because of the C++, and Perl was no problem for me to teach myself from a book.

I have a Meade LX200.

And no, I'n not selling. Even though I don't use it, I'm still in love with the idea of having one.

I have a shitty 233mhz box at home with slack installed.. as soon as I found the man files for perl, I knew I was in heaven.. it's complete with various tutorials and how to's.

Slack is awesome. I use it exclusively. I quit Windows a while back. Although, soon I will have a non-Linux computer - I am ordering an iBook in a few weeks.
