INTP Discussion Forum > Flamethrower > I wanna be a f***ing CAT!

I first thought of posting this into http://www.livejournal.com/users/ngene/ but since LiveJournal doesn't work at the moment, I'm going to post my rant here and crosspost in into my blog later if I can. Feel free to ignore this post full of fury and self-pity.

I'm currently feeling pretty bad. I'm sometimes just overwhelmed by this thing called Real Life. So much to do, so much pointless maintenance things to take care of, so much everyday routine and chores, so much wondering how I'm going to spend my few cents, so much figuring out what to wear... etc etc ad nauseum. I'm overwhelmed. I'd just want to eat, sleep, observe, and absorb information. Not earn money or cook or pay bills or do laundry.

When I'm overwhelmed, I become sad and depressed. This depression makes me feel vulnerable and defective, which in turn makes me extremely irritable, so that the slightest things piss me off. Anger is pretty much the only feeling I can express comfortably, so when I'm feeling depressed, I lose my temper very easily and let it show very easily.

So, let's just say that today I've been raving and yelling and snapping at everybody near me. And since I've been home all day, it means I've been snapping at the poor hubby. And the fact that LiveJournal is experiencing very very heavy traffic and doesn't function properly doesn't help, either. My mouse, keyboard, and other random objects at my disposal have been subjected to varying degrees of violence.

Sometimes I'd just want to be a disembodied mind floating around, without this physical body, this burden I have to take care of in order to have a functioning mind. Sometimes I want to be able to transfer my mind into a digital form and upload it into the internet where I could live, free of everyday routines.

Or, alternatively, I'd want to be a cat. I wouldn't have any responsibilities, I would just be lazy, eat, sleep, shit, and occasionally be the center of attention and admiration when the humans would notice me. Yes, I wouldn't mind being Garfield. Free of the worldly trouble.

Ok, thanks for listening, I'll shut up now. intp/ninja.gif

I agree with all that, particularly pointless maintenance stuff and a, I guess 90% universal, need for just a bit more cash to make things more comfortable rather than even wanting to be rich. And work when we have it, which is 60% a waste of time.

But I hope you feel serener soon. Don't think all cats have it easy either: loads of dangers and bad things accompany their lives too ( I'm a were-kitten: so I know. )

Being a disembodied mind doesn't sound that much fun though ! You need a change I guess. ( & control that temper ! ) biggrin.gif biggrin.gif laugh.gif

-edit-

removed rather rude joke, sorry I was in a really bad mood - no excuse for acting like a moron though.

oh and cat do lead a comfortable life, and I want in as well.

<[edit] Oh nothing *shrug* rolleyes.gif >

Anyway, even cats have to clean themselves constantly... not to mention manage their hairball problems!

If you're feeling overwhelmed, make sure not to put off the most important stuff for later - get as much important uninteresting stuff done as soon as possible before it builds up. Or, if it has already built up, don't expect yourself to manage it all perfectly. Perfectionistic demands cause procrastination.

That's enough lecturing, lol. I dare you to feel better... now!

Let's all hope that you don't transfer your being into digital form. You'll start acquiring information at a dizzying rate, realize you can control all the world's satellites, transmit your unstoppable viruses to every machine and computer, thus easing your anger (which you naively assumed would disapear once you relieved yourself of physical responsibilities) by taking over the world.

Feel free to proceed with your transformation into a cat however...

You're right, being a disembodied mind wouldn't be that fun. I'd miss the enjoyment I can get via my senses. smile.gif

Lovechild:
I wish I'd seen what you wrote. I could have been angry at someone for a reason, and I would've felt a lot better if I'd had the chance to kick your cyber ass. intp/alttongue.gif

Odyssey:
It's so true that perfectionistic demands cause procrastination. So true. You won't even imagine how true. dry.gif

flan2dave:
If I actually transferred myself into a digital form, I'd probably notice I got rid of physical responsibilities but got a bunch of new digital maintenance responsibilities in turn. unsure.gif

Sounds a bit like the movie terminator. I think that program was a chick as well. If someone was to be in digital form I think it would feel (can you still feel?) rather funny, because all my thoughts feel like they are in my head or on my tongue. Where do YOUR thoughts feel like they are?
