Um... ok... but y'know a short skirt fits women better... women have a lot more beautiful legs... biggrin.gif

........I mean really now......... why would men actually go to all the trouble to even protest just to get the right to wear something that is at the very least ugly, according to the general idea of fashion...? I mean, I wouldn't mind it, if you guys wouldn't mind my laughing at your faces... tongue.gif tongue.gif rolleyes.gif

I dont think the intention of this protest is to specifically gain the right to wear an ugly skirt but rather not be arbitrarily excluded from such stupidity purely for being male.
Strange but it means alot to those driven by principle.

If I was a hypersensitive ESFx, I'd probably slap you and call you a chauvinist for saying that. tongue.gif

But I'm not an ESFx, so I'll have to agree with you. biggrin.gif Although as a woman I wouldn't mind men wearing a bit less clothes in the public, I think the women's legs (generally) look better and more beautiful than men's and deserve more showing off. biggrin.gif

I agree with Thoughtso1 too, it's probably about the princible. But these guys are also arbitrarily excluded from wearing pantyhose, so I'm sure they'll fight for the right to wear tight and uncomfortable pantyhose with these skirts as well. tongue.gif

It's not unlike women fighting for the right to go to war. In theory? Sure. In practice? I'd sooner wear that hideous cream skirt the guy in front is wearing with the uninspired shoes than take one bit of action to earn for myself such a right. I believe the expression is "Heaven forbid" I should ever go to war.

I think there's a few people making a fuss about a lot of things while the rest of us stand back and say, "Hey, if you want to spend your time that way, but why anyone would want this thing, I dunno."

Woah! Interesting.

Exactly.

But one question: We say we don't like skirts because they show men's legs, but what about shorts? Guys wear those all the time (at least in the warmer months in USA). Shorts somehow look cooler, though, hm.

I might be willing to accept full-length "unbifurcated garments" - but then again... it doesn't seem like our society is ready to accept such overthrow of male/female differences in dress... get the pun? ^_^

(Keeping in mind that I'm a somewhat iconoclastic teenage guy) I'd like to offer my idea of casual male elegance: Untucked (but not baggy) buttoned shirts with well-matching 'clean-looking' colors that bring out either:
A) the eyes (my eyes turn green or blue depending on what color shirt I wear!)
B) the hair color (I love my hair, too... haha)
C) a tan (psst: light blue makes skin look tanned for caucasians)
D) a certain mood
E) an aspect of personality
--combined with well-cut and sharply lined suitpants and dark dressy shoes. Do men need dresses or skirts to achieve elegance or fashion or self-expression? Nope.

But, since INTPs can enjoy being different, I want to mention that sometimes it is fun to dress outlandishly - for example, a few months ago I wore all green w/ brown shoes and draped fake vines on my arms and torso. Some people try really hard to not notice, and some grin from ear to ear and stare - so funny =) Fundamentally, however, it was expression of my awe and respect for - put simply - for trees and forest plants. Thus, I can emphasize a bit with those men's need for self-expression - for their idea of equality.

Another thought I had about skirts... why would any guy want to worry about keeping their legs together whenever they sit down? *tongue-in-cheek*

I am amazed - or I am telepahic tongue.gif I was going through your post and I had in mind the exact same thing to ask dry.gif I guess a man would have anatomic issues to get over in order to do that tongue.gif

Haha, exactly.

My (current) conclusion: There are better ways to fight for equality.

Digging up old threads and moving them around...

This would, in the extreme case, cause the extinction of the human race. If every man on the planet wore short skirts and would sit their legs crossed all the time, that would certainly lead into an uncomfortable anatomical situation, which in turn would lead into incapability of performing some reproductional activities. biggrin.gif

Anyway, I was thinking why I find mens' legs repulsive when they're wearing a skirt, but I don't have a problem with them wearing shorts or swimming trunks (although I still think female legs look more beautiful). Then I got an idea. I associate the skirt with women, so I associate the man's legs with woman's legs if he's wearing a skirt. This makes me think of a woman wearing a short skirt and having hairy legs, and I don't like the sight of a woman having hairy legs and a short skirt in public. Maybe that's the explanation!

Better start practicing, just in case.

*Tries sitting with legs together*

Hmm, a bit of a strain, tolerable level of pain, could compensate tendency of respread by setting feet outwards while keeping knees together.

*adjusts*

Ok!

This is really really funny. rolleyes.gif I have wondered why men don't go back to wearing kilts, I actually like looking at mens legs in kilts, but NOT the high heels, please. If they could design a skirt that looked right for men, with stocky shoes to go with the stocky legs, fine, I'd be open to that. But they seriously need to change the styles to make it work.
