INTP Discussion Forum > Introductions > Endtroducing...

Hello all. I stumbled on this forum and thought I'd join. I was thinking about joining one of those Yahoo groups but I hate navigating those messages. I like forums set up like this one better.

I am 29 years old, originally from the MidWest and now living just outside D.C. in Alexandria.

Married seven (SEVEN!!!) years now with no kids and one overactive chocolate labrador retriever.

I love music, esp. alternative music. I probably know more about alternative music than most people outside of real musicians and music critics. I own 600+ albums (I don't believe in downloading what I can buy either). I also love movies and because I feel illiterate when it comes to literature (due to my chosen major) I am currently educating myself in that area. (And though this is not the time or place grokkfried, but I absolutely hated "Stranger In a Strange Land").

I have a B.S. in chemical engineering, which I have never used. I also have a J.D. and would like to do patent work, but the market sucks and I basically screwed up getting into that field so far. Plus I just learned that my paralegal job will be downsized at the end of this month. sad.gif

I am a very strong I and P, about as extreme as one can get. But I am a weak N and T. IntP?

Anyway, I hope to contribute to this forum, but for now I am off to bed. The wife and I are getting up at 2:00 a.m. to see Pres. Reagan's coffin at the Capitol and avoid the super huge crowds (I'd rather sleep in, but I am always up for something new).

Good Night.

P.S. A MacGuffin is a subject in a movie that propels the plot, but is not actually important itself (kinda like my life right now). http://cinepad.com/filmnoir/bait.htm

Oh we went last night, but the park police started turning people away at 2 am! The last ones in had to wait 8 hours to get in the Capitol.

We just went back home and went to bed.

Ok, so let me just get this straight. You have a B.S. in ChemEng, work as a paralegal, learning literature and want to do patent work.

I think you need a little more diversity in your life laugh.gif

What do you mean by patent work and what is a J.D?

I can't conceive how one can earn a degree and not use it, but I guess that is something that is learned with experience eh? Not that I never heard of it before, sometimes they explain it as a lack of networking (not good for introverts!).

Ok I lied, I can conceive it, still I find it unexpected (possibly it was just as unexpected to those who have that story to tell).

edit - Endtroducing? So does that mean you're leaving. blink.gif

Endtroducing is just the name of an album, I liked the word.

I got sick of engineering halfway through, but I try to finish what I start, even to my detriment. I like the science, but got tired of the number crunching.

What can I say? I have broad interests.

A J.D. is a Juris Doctorate = law degree. I went to law school after getting my ChE degree.

Patent work - I'd like to do intellectual property law. Specifically, turning people's ideas into patents. In essence using my engineering and law degrees together.
