I found this web site that has a page showing parallels (don't know who drew them) between different psychological test results and assessments, and man are some of them scary. I know they were just finding the negative of each or the closest parellel they could, but I have never been arrested, thanks very much. There's a lists of disorders related to each, y'see, and mine was antisocial. I thought I was antisocial, but boy, I'll never be so free with that term again. INTPs are apparently alone too much! It was the mention of nonexistent sex drive I thought would give you a laugh. I hope it will give you a laugh, anyway.

Right... then I am supposed either to be a 5w6 (which is close, but not really me) or switch to INTJ (which is also close, but certainly not me tongue.gif ) I should also be a Libra, while I am half pisces - half aquarius and really representing this, both on my behaviour and on my character.
Being 5w6 (which is what I am supposed to be as INTP), I should be schizoid, and thus have at least 4 of the following symptoms:

1. neither desires nor enjoys close relationships, including being part of a family;

2. almost always chooses solitary activities;

3. has little, if any, interest in having sexual experiences with another person;

4. takes pleasure in few, if any, activities;

5. lacks close friends or confidants other than first-degree relatives;

6. appears indifferent to the praise or criticism of others;

7. shows emotional coldness, detachment, or flattened affectivity.

I can surely admit having the 5th and 6th, the rest is quite exaggerated.
To cut a long story short, if I was to choose the 5w4 (INTJish) type, I would be schizotypal (here are the details... http://www.geocities.com/ptypes/schizotypalpd.html ) I can also relate to a couple of that as well. Although I must note that I don't consider "odd thinking and speech (e.g., vague, circumstantial, metaphorical, overelaborate, or stereotyped)" to be a disease symptom.

Oddly, I'd always considered #6 to be a good quality. I certainly have wished for it enough times.

Here's what they had for me:

Antisocial Disorder

The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fourth Edition (American Psychiatric Association, 1994, pp. 649-650) describes Antisocial Personality Disorder as a pervasive pattern of disregard for and violation of the rights of others occurring since age 15 years, as indicated by three (or more) of the following:

failure to conform to social norms with respect to lawful behaviors as indicated by repeatedly performing acts that are grounds for arrest;

deceitfulness, as indicated by repeated lying, use of aliases, or conning others for personal profit or pleasure;

impulsivity or failure to plan ahead;

irritability and aggressiveness, as indicated by repeated physical fights or assaults;

reckless disregard for safety of self or others; .

consistent irresponsibility, as indicated by repeated failure to sustain consistent work behavior or honor financial obligations;

lack of remorse, as indicated by being indifferent to or rationalizing having hurt, mistreated, or stolen from another.

The individual is at least 18 years, there is evidence of Conduct Disorder with onset before age 15 years, and the occurrence of antisocial behavior is not exclusively during the course of Schizophrenia or a Manic Episode.

Well, they got me. I am impulsive.

It will give my husband a laugh, too. laugh.gif

Hmm... so, yeah, I'm supposed to be schizoid. I remember taking a personality disorder test a long time ago and getting some scores on schizoid. Well, I took the test again http://www.4degreez.com/misc/personality_disorder_test.mv and these were my results:

Paranoid: Low
Schizoid: Moderate
Schizotypal: Moderate
Antisocial: Low
Borderline: Low
Histrionic: Moderate
Narcissistic: High
Avoidant: Very High
Dependent: Low
Obsessive-Compulsive: Low

When I read the descriptions, it tells me I'm like this:

QUOTE
People with schizoid personality disorder avoid relationships and do not show much emotion. They genuinely prefer to be alone and do not secretly wish for popularity. They tend to seek jobs that require little social contact. Their social skills are often weak and they do not show a need for attention or acceptance. They are perceived as humorless and distant and often are termed "loners."

Many believe that schizotypal personality disorder represents mild schizophrenia. The disorder is characterized by odd forms of thinking and perceiving, and individuals with this disorder often seek isolation from others. They sometimes believe to have extra sensory ability or that unrelated events relate to them in some important way. They generally engage in eccentric behavior and have difficulty concentrating for long periods of time. Their speech is often over elaborate and difficult to follow.

People with histrionic personality disorder are constant attention seekers. They need to be the center of attention all the time, often interrupting others in order to dominate the conversation. They use grandiose language to discribe everyday events and seek constant praise. They may dress provacatively or exaggerate illnesses in order to gain attention. They also tend to exaggerate friendships and relationships, believing that everyone loves them. They are often manipulative.

Narcissistic personality disorder is characterized by self-centeredness. Like histrionic disorder, people with this disorder seek attention and praise. They exaggerate their achievements, expecting others to recongize them as being superior. They tend to be choosy about picking friends, since they believe that not just anyone is worthy of being their friend. They tend to make good first impressions, yet have difficulty maintaining long-lasting relationships. They are generally uninterested in the feelings of others and may take advantage of them.

Avoidant personality disorder is characterized by extreme social anxiety. People with this disorder often feel inadequate, avoid social situations, and seek out jobs with little contact with others. They are fearful of being rejected and worry about embarassing themselves in front of others. They exaggerate the potential difficulties of new situations to rationalize avoiding them. Often, they will create fantasy worlds to substitute for the real one. Unlike schizoid personality disorder, avoidant people yearn for social relations yet feel they are unable to obtain them. They are frequently depressed and have low self-confidence.

Well, maybe they're right when telling me I'm narcissistic. Who else would copy and paste lines and lines of descriptions about themselves for everybody to read? biggrin.gif

Holy cats.

Disorder | Rating

Paranoid: High
Schizoid: High
Schizotypal: High
Antisocial: Moderate
Borderline: Moderate
Histrionic: Moderate
Narcissistic: High
Avoidant: High
Dependent: Moderate
Obsessive-Compulsive: High

I wonder if I went back and changed my borderline answers if it might come out that I am on some level SANE.

What's a histrionic? And I'm not obsessive-compulsive, I just have a few nervous tics, that's all. They don't interfere with my functionality.

Y'know, someday I'm building my own psychological disorder test. It will test for such freaks of nature as:

Neat Freak Disorder (aka Snow White Syndrome, had a roommate with this)

Bubbly Optimist Syndrome (characterized by lack of thought)

Aggressive Niceness Syndrome (turns ugly when you don't cooperate)

Clique Disorder (it's our group and you aren't good enough to join)

Teacher's Petism (that one kid, even in college, that the teacher is always buddies with, while you feel like a fool if you make a comment 'cause they stare at you)

Crotch Thinking (I think we've all met people like this, fill in your own traits)

Political Activism (ha ha ha)(you know the ones)

Politicians

And popular gurus, like Oprah Winfrey. I'd really like to see honest results of a disorder test on her. I have half-jokingly called her the AntiChrist... meaning that if she so chose, how she could lead the children of men down the primrose path. She's a cup of kool-aid away from being a cult leader.

I gotta stop. I'm being histrionic again.

As for myself, if I have any personality disorder, it's at least cyclothymic... A fair amount is probably a teenage 'thing', though.

">>has depressive periods: depressed mood or loss of interest or pleasure in all, or almost all, activities and pastimes alternating with hypomanic periods: elevated, expansive, or irritable mood [ugh! I have a less pathological degree of it, but still it's so annoying - but manic highs are nice, though draining over time]

>>has a decreased need for sleep alternating with hypersomnia [I amaze friends sometimes when I tell them about getting three hours of sleep for multiple nights in a week and being able to function... then the next one or two weeks, even after catching up on lost sleep, I can find myself nodding off at all hours. Right now it's an insomnia phase, hmph.]

>>has shaky self-esteem: naive grandiose overconfidence alternating with lack of self-confidence (pg. 264); [heheh, hopefully the extremes will diminish after teenhood]

>>has periods of sharpened and creative thinking alternating with periods of mental confusion and apathy (pg. 264); [yes - for a few weeks prior to a couple days ago, I've had more confusion than usual; the worst was two weeks ago for about three days I had persistent periods of... apathy and feeling 'lost', which I think is related to hypersomnia]

>>displays marked unevenness in the quantity and quality of productivity, often associated with unusual working hours [this is a surprisingly specific assessment, yet true in my schoolwork and other activities]"

Eek! At least I have an interesting life, haha - here's a good quote: ""Giving style" to one's character--a great and rare art! It is exercised by those who see all the strengths and weaknesses of their own natures and then comprehend them in an artistic plan until everything appears as art and reason and even weakness delights the eye." smile.gif (from Thus Spake Zarathustra) I see my life as a mass of complex logical structures that join together in beauty, in 'art', with the help of wisdom and knowledge and peak-experiences. Does this make sense? It helps explain why I test as INTP (complex logic and knowledge) and INFP (meaningful beauty and passion). Don't mind me blathering on here, I'm just trying to understand myself...

Oh-oh, AND! "Cyclothymic personality is considered a temperament, present in many gifted and creative people." How nice of them to say so =] (What's that you hear? Is that the sound of my ego massively inflating?)

Good night, western hemisphere ~Oddy
