I went to school this morning, walked over to physics class as usual. My physics teacher asked me if I was supposed to be taking an AP test. I said no. She said I was on the list to take the English Language and Composition this morning. So I went to ask the college counselor and he said to check with the lady proctoring the exam. She sent me back to the college counselor. So it turned out I had been signed up for the exam all along - and I had no idea! According to my advisor I had been told a few weeks before that I was switching from the English literature exam to the English language exam. I thought I was just scratching literature off the list, but no, they signed me up for the language exam instead because my dad had already made out the damn check for four AP tests! I was really anxious for a few minutes, but I didn't have much time to concentrate on my anxiety because the test started really soon. After the test I felt angry, mostly at my dad who had signed me up (I think) for that test.

So that's how I spent my morning: doing easy multiple choice questions and hard essay questions for a test I didn't even know I was taking. Not fun. Anyway, I wanted to ask, have you guys ever had to be evaluated or present something in public and been completely caught off guard? What did you think or feel? More importantly, what did you do? Just wing it, or ask for an extension? Tell your teacher/boss/authority figure that you weren't prepared? I was very surprised at how comfortable I felt after the initial shock. In fact, the facility with which I took the test was almost as unexpected as the revelation that I had to take the test! Now I'm a strong P, so I'm supposed to be adaptable, but still, the AP is a pretty damn big test not to know about beforehand!

I had to take a US History test on the fly last month. I hadn't studied at all. I was a little nervous, but I did okay. I had a 90 on the test, and a final grade (factoring in course-work) of 96. History is my good subject, I had several hundreds in the lessons. Next week I'm going in for English and Chemistry.
